THE NEED FOR THE LUCILLE HUNTER FOUNDATION

As public schools work to address enrollment pressures and may suffer from funding gaps from the state and/or county, the Lucille Hunter Foundation was created as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to provide funding to prevent the loss of teaching positions; especially in the areas of the arts, AIG enrichment, and intervention. This is funding that the PTA cannot provide.

The Lucille Hunter Foundation was established in 2017, as part of the lead up to the School’s 90th year celebration. Since being founded, the Foundation has made meaningful contributions yearly.

Examples of historic impact include:

  • Funding for a full-time time teaching position for the 24-25 and 25-26 school years

  • 29 National Teacher Board Certifications fully funded 

  • 2 Teacher planning days supported by the Foundation funding substitute teachers

  • Funding for substitute teachers for all homeroom teachers for continuing education courses in the 25-26 school year
