Why Do We Need a Foundation?

Lucille Hunter Foundation provides funding for teacher positions, teacher development, substitute teachers, and related needs that are not funded by the state or county and that fall outside of the regulatory purview of the PTA. The Lucille Hunter Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

As all of our public schools work to address enrollment pressures and funding gaps, nonprofit foundations like the Hunter Foundation have stepped in to provide additional funds to prevent the loss of teaching positions, especially in areas like the arts, enrichment, AIG and intervention. This is funding that the PTA is not allowed to provide, so our goal is to work as a complement to the amazing work our PTA has done (and will continue to do).

The Lucille Hunter GT/AIG Magnet Elementary School Foundation was formed in the summer of 2017 in the lead-up to the school’s 90th anniversary celebration.

The mission of the Foundation is simple – to raise money to support additional funding for teachers and teaching positions at Hunter Elementary.
